Biography

Prof. Harry QIN is a Professor at the School of Nursing in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He also serves as the Director of the Centre for Smart Health and CAS SIAT-PolyU Multi-modal Medical Molecular Imaging Joint Laboratory respectively. He earned his PHD degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Prof. Qin's research focuses on leveraging advanced AI techniques for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's diseases (PD); developing rehabilitation systems for older adults through applying AI and extended reality (XR) technologies. His works has been published on renowned journals such as Medical Image Analysis and IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging. Besides, he has led the project of developing a MR brain image analysis platform with the application of advanced deep learning models for dementia research, diagnosis and treatment. The project had secured a competitive grant of HK$2M. Currently, he is developing an AI-empowered next generation integrated care platform for dysphagia via data knowledge interaction synergies.

By joining RISA, Prof. Qin strives to collaborate with interdisciplinary members in developing novel AI algorithms and AI-XR empowered systems to foster health of the senior citizens and advance healthcare.
