Young Innovative Researcher Award 2023 - Call for Application

ABOUT THE AWARD

Continuing the overwhelming success of its debut in 2022, Young Innovative Researcher Award (YIRA) returns and is expecting more novel and original ideas from our young researchers in PolyU this year!

YIRA is a university-level award organised by Research and Innovation Office (RIO) to recognise young faculty members whose research demonstrate excellence in addressing global challenges.  Last year, the committee received numerous outstanding researches and six talented young researchers made to their finals.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

• Under the age of 35
• Have a novel and original idea
• Want to create an impactful change

WHY APPLY

As one of the awardees, you will receive:

• PolyU Young Innovative Researcher Award
• Cash prize of HK$20,000 and research funding of HK$500,000
• Media exposure and promotion
• Opportunity to be nominated by PolyU to the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 China or equivalent
• Invitation to the Award Ceremony

HOW IT WORKS

WHO WILL BE SELECTED

Applicants who demonstrate:

• Originality and novelty of the research
• The short (1-3 years), medium (4-10 years), and long (over 10 years) impact of the research
• Relevance, impact and significance of the research to the industrial, economic and social development in Hong Kong and beyond

The Assessment Panel will be made up of Representative Members of Central Management Team and Senior Faculty Members.
