Summary

PolyU supported the Food Safety International Cooperation and Innovation – Hengqin Forum which was organized by the National Food Safety Innovation Center. Speakers include representatives from China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, United Nations Development Programme, plus other international and domestic research institutions and universities, as well as multinational food companies and entrepreneurs. Speakers shared on the latest food safety standards, food safety innovation and rapid testing, food safety technologies, as well as traceability, big data and other areas. Dr. Zhongping Yao, Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology spoke in the session of “Online / Offline Third-party Inspection for Food Safety”.

 

The forum also announced the research fund will be established to encourage the innovation and technology in food safety related projects. Mr. Victor Zhao, Assistant Director of Innovation and Technology Development, was invited as a panel member of the project funding assessment committee.
