The Hon Mrs Regina IP, GBM, GBS, JP, Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council and Founding Chairperson of the New People’s Party, led a delegation to PolyU, including Legislative Council Members The Hon Ms Judy CHAN, MH, JP, and The Hon Adrian Pedro HO. The delegation was received by PolyU President Prof. Jin-Guang TENG and Senior Vice President (Research and Innovation) Prof. Christopher CHAO. The two sides discussed how Hong Kong can leverage its research strengths to advance aerospace technologies and related industries.
A longstanding advocate for commercial space and related technology development, Mrs Ip noted that Hong Kong is well positioned to play a greater role in the nation’s space development. As the nation advances its goal of becoming a space power under the 15th Five-Year Plan, Hong Kong has significant potential to develop its space economy. As the only tertiary institution in Hong Kong that has contributed to the success of various national space missions, PolyU actively aligns with national strategies to support the city’s space industry development.
The delegation also visited the Research Centre for Deep Space Explorations (RCDSE) to learn more about PolyU’s aerospace research capabilities. Accompanied by Prof. Hongyu YU, Executive Director of the PolyU Aerospace Research Academy (PARA), the delegation was briefed by Prof. Bo WU, Associate Director of PARA and Associate Director of RCDSE, and Ir Prof. Kai-Leung YUNG, Director of RCDSE, on PolyU’s key breakthroughs in national space programmes and deep-space exploration technologies. The delegation also exchanged views with directors of PARA’s research centres and institutes and learned about the latest projects in space health, space governance, space environment, space manufacturing technology, large aircraft, smart aviation and the low-altitude economy.
PolyU will continue to leverage its research strengths to help Hong Kong seize national opportunities in aerospace development and explore new frontiers in the space industry.
訪問團到訪理大｜探索航天航空創新發展
行政會議召集人暨新民黨主席Regina Ip 葉劉淑儀女士昨日率團到訪理大，同行嘉賓包括立法會議員陳家珮女士及何敬康先生。理大校長滕錦光教授及高級副校長（研究及創新）趙汝恒教授接待訪問團，雙方探討香港如何憑藉科研優勢，拓展航天、航空科技及相關產業。
葉劉淑儀女士一直積極推動本港商業航天及相關科技發展，認為香港具備條件在國家航天發展中發揮更大作用。隨着國家「十五五」規劃加快建設「航天強國」，香港發展航天經濟潛力龐大。作為香港唯一一所多次參與國家重大航天任務的高等院校，理大一直積極對接國家戰略，為香港航天產業發展奠定堅實基礎。
為實地了解理大的航天科研實力，訪問團專程到訪深空探測研究中心（RCDSE）。在航空航天高等研究院（PARA）執行院長于宏宇教授陪同下，PARA副院長兼RCDSE副主任吳波教授聯同RCDSE主任容啟亮教授，介紹理大歷年參與國家重大航天工程的核心科研突破及深空探測技術。訪問團亦與PARA轄下研究院及研究中心主任深入了解在太空治理、太空健康、太空環境、太空製造技術、大飛機、智能航空及低空經濟等跨領域項目的最新進展。
理大將持續發揮科研優勢，助力香港把握國家航天航空發展機遇，開拓太空產業新賽道。
