Prof. Yuan MA, Member of RI-IWEAR and Assistant Professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, won an award for his research on "Designing Tactile Sensations: Friction Customization Leading a New Generation of Human-Machine Collaboration." Through predictive modeling and dynamic control of friction between fingertips and material interfaces, he revolutionized the tactile experience, promoted the design of advanced tactile technologies and interactive surfaces, thereby enhancing the accessibility, user experience, and inclusivity of digital devices with adaptive multi-sensory feedback and highly environmentally adaptable tactile signals.
