PolyU secures five global top-30 and four Hong Kong top spots in 2026 QS World University Subject Rankings
The University has solidified its international standing in the latest QS World University Subject Rankings, with five disciplines in the global top 30 – Hospitality & Leisure Management (15th), Civil & Structural Engineering (18th), Nursing (18th), Architecture & Built Environment (21st) and Art & Design (24th). It also holds the number one spot in Hong Kong for Hospitality & Leisure Management, Civil & Structural Engineering, Art & Design and Environmental Sciences, reflecting PolyU’s outstanding teaching quality and research leadership.
Beyond these achievements, this year, 24 PolyU subjects rank among the world’s top 100, covering areas as diverse as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering; and Material Sciences.
These results reflect not only our strong disciplinary foundation, but also the University’s clear focus on future-oriented fields. Artificial intelligence has been identified as a strategic research priority, leading to the establishment of the PolyU Academy for Artificial Intelligence, which supports Hong Kong’s ambitions to become an AI innovation hub. Later this year, PolyU will further extend its reach into cutting-edge domains with the launch of the PolyU Aerospace Research Academy. With the existing PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research, these platforms are designed to bring together experts from different fields and speed up the translation of research into real-world impact.
PolyU President Professor Jin-Guang Teng commented that the results underline the University’s internationally recognised strengths in both teaching and research. He reaffirmed PolyU’s commitment to excellence in education, research and knowledge transfer, and its goal of expanding its global partnerships while helping to shape Hong Kong’s role as an international hub for post-secondary education.
