Five PRI scholars recognised amongst the world′s most highly cited researchers in 2023

Five Photonics Research Institute (PRI) scholars have been recognised in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers 2023” by Clarivate Analytics for their significant research impact, as reflected in their publication of multiple papers that have been frequently cited by fellow academics.   A total of 6,849 researchers from more than 1,300 institutions in 67 nations and regions with a diverse range of research fields are named as Highly Cited Researchers in 2023. Prof. Alan Pak Tao LAU Elected 2024 Optica Fellow

Prof. Alan Pak Tao LAU, one of the Management Committee Member in Photonics Research Institute (PRI), has been elected a Fellow of Optica for 2024 for his substantial contributions on developing digital signal processing techniques for optical communication systems.   The Board of Directors of Optica (formerly OSA), Advancing Optics and Photonics Worldwide, recently elected 129 members from 26 countries to the Society’s 2024 Fellow Class. Optica Fellows are selected based on several factors, including outstanding contributions to research, business, education, engineering and service to Optica and our community.   Fellows are Optica members who have served with distinction in the advancement of optics and photonics. The Fellow Members Committee reviewed 216 nominations submitted by current Fellows. As Fellows can account for no more than 10 percent of the total membership, the election process is highly competitive. Candidates are recommended by the Fellow Members Committee and approved by the Awards Council and Board of Directors.

17 PRI scholars ranked among world’s top 2% most-cited scientists

We are pleased to announce that 17 Photonics Research Institute (PRI) scholars ranked among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists in the newly released metrics compiled by Stanford University.   The scholars were named in the latest release of the Stanford University-led compilation of citation indicators covering over 100,000 top scientists. They were grouped into 22 subject fields and 174 sub-fields using indicators including information on citations, individual’s scientific research output, co-authorship and a composite indicator for career-long citation impact up to the end of 2022.   This recognition reflects the significant influence and research excellence of the scientists, who are committed to furthering their knowledge for the benefit of the world.
