Organised by PolyU PReCIT, in collaboration with Student Affairs Office and Department of Applied Social Sciences, the Lecture on “Scientific Exploration in Earth's Extreme Environments” successfully concluded today. The Lecture featured Dr Tang Limei, the First Female Scientist Diving to the Ocean with Jiaolong Submersible, as the keynote speaker. Dr Tang provided insights into the mysteries of extreme environments, and shared how scientists overcome challenges and conduct cutting-edge explorations in these inaccessible areas, contributing to the expansion of human cognitive boundaries and national development.
Prof. Christopher Chao, Senior Vice President (Research and Innovation) of PolyU and Director of PReCIT, expressed that exploring the unknown is the eternal driving force of human progress, and technological innovation is the core engine for addressing challenges and pioneering the future. Prof. Chao hoped the Lecture would ignite participants' enthusiasm for scientific exploration and, through the power of innovation, collectively open up broader possibilities for humanity.
Prof. Bu Siqi, Professor and Associate Head of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of PolyU and Core Member of PReCIT, stated that the significance of the Lecture extends far beyond the realms of geography and technology. It is about the ability of technological innovation to address global challenges, as well as the ambition of nations and peoples to face the future, explore the unknown, and strategise for a better tomorrow.
