Retina-like sensors give machine better vision

Collecting high-quality visuals for visual inspection and identification tasks needs an accurate sensor. Recently, Dr Yang CHAI, the Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Physics, PolyU and Prof. Jong-Hyun AHN of Yon Sei University developed a vision sensor with photosensitivity. The sensor is inspired by the retina. It is made from molybdenum disulfide phototransistors, a thin semiconductor. It offers visual adaptation with highly localized and dynamic modulation of photosensitivity under different lighting conditions. It is beneficial to the development of self-driving vehicles and industry 4.0. 2022 Departmental Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award

We are pleased to announce that Mr Samson Leong Chun Chi won the 2022 Departmental Outstanding Alumni Award in Professional Achievement of PolyU AP.
