Short Description

Dr Nathan Xu obtained his PhD degree from the Academy of Interdisciplinary Study (AIS) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2023, where he concentrated his research on Micro-electronics Systems and Design. He earned his MPhil degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from HKUST, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Science and Technology from Hefei University of Technology (HFUT). Currently, Dr Xu serves as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).

Before joining PolyU in 2025, Dr Xu was the Teaching Staff and Undergraduate Tutor in the Division of Integrative Systems and Design (ISD) at HKUST. His teaching expertise encompasses electronic circuits, mechatronics, robotics, design thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship, as well as capstone projects.

Besides teaching commitments, Dr Xu has actively led and participated in numerous educational initiatives and startup projects focusing on smart campuses, sustainable development, and the Internet of Things. With extensive experience in technical course instruction and interdisciplinary student guidance, he is dedicated to fostering students' design thinking abilities and promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration.
