Prof. LIU received his Bachelor’s and Ph.D. degrees from the College of Chemistry, Jilin University, China in 2005 and 2010, respectively. During his PhD in 2010, he was working in the Max Plank Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Germany for half a year as a visiting PhD student. From 2011 to 2016, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of South Australia, Australia and later at the University of Alberta, Canada. In 2017, he was appointed as a full professor at Jilin University, where he is affiliated with the State Key Laboratory of Supramolecular Structure and Materials. His current research focuses on dynamic-bond-mediated polymers (DBMPs), encompassing high-performance and sustainable DBMPs based on both noncovalent and dynamic covalent bonds, and functional DBMPs for soft electronics, solid-state lithium batteries, and liquid crystal-based actuators.
Abstract
This presentation will highlight our recent advancements in dynamic-bond-mediated polymers (DBMPs), synthesized by strategically tuning interchain/intersegment noncovalent interactions, alongside the rational design of dynamic covalent networks. It will be demonstrated that such design can yield novel polymer materials with exceptional mechanical properties, enhanced sustainability, and new functionalities. The potential applications of DBMPs in soft electronics and stimuli-responsive actuators will also be explored.
