Message from Alumni

This programme offers a distinctive blend of breadth and depth across its curriculum. The compulsory subjects build a solid foundation, helping us develop a holistic understanding of operational frameworks by combining theory with practical application. The three specialised streams—Operations Analytics, Quality Management, and Operations Strategy—allowed us to tailor our learning to suit individual research interests or career goals. I chose the Operations Analytics stream, which focuses on data-driven decision-making, and developed skills in extracting insights to improve operational efficiency.

The professors’ guidance was pivotal. Their feedback and industry insights helped bridge classroom learning with real-world scenarios, strengthening our analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

The wide range of electives also broadened our knowledge and enabled collaboration with students from diverse academic backgrounds. Through group projects and in-class discussions, we engaged in cross-disciplinary exchanges, sharing perspectives beyond operational boundaries while expanding our professional networks.

This integration of structured curricula, academic mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration has equipped me with the confidence and ability to tackle complex operational challenges.

CHAI Yiyin

As an economics graduate seeking new career horizons, the MSc in Operations Management (MScOM) programme has been instrumental in developing my professional skill set. It’s strengthened my core competencies in accounting and statistical analysis, while equipping me with practical tools through ERP systems, operational management platforms, and business analytics. Subjects such as Supply Chain Management, Managing Innovation, and Marketing Management have broadened my perspective and sharpened my problem-solving skills.

What I valued most was the programme’s emphasis on real-world application to actual business challenges. Our professors encouraged hands-on learning through real-life business cases that encouraged critical thinking. After each module, we worked in teams on case studies to translate theory into actionable strategies—whether optimising systems, setting up an ERP system for a company, or evaluating market entry approaches. The constructive feedback we received from our professors during these exercises helped refine both my technical approaches and my teamwork skills.

The MScOM combines a rigorous academic framework with practical implementation. If you’re looking for a programme that transforms analytical thinking into real-world impact, this is where your journey should begin.
