Classified Post Hackathon 2018 is a 24 hours challenge took place in November last year at Hong Kong Science Park (HKSTP) data studio. It invited students and fresh graduates to come up with winning, innovative ideas, and create apps and technological tools by using data analytics and latest technology so as to solve real-world business problems within a hectic 24-hours. After that, the students had to show the judges their creativity and feasibility in a 3-minute presentation. Only 10 shortlisted teams were able to enter the final round presentation and explain their digital solutions in details. Mr. Lo Cheung Yu (Alex) who is studying BSc in Enterprise Engineering with Management and his team participated and won the 1st runner up in this Hackathon 2018. It was impressed that ISE student showed his strong understanding and provided a concrete solution with outstanding technical skills, data visualization techniques as well as the presentation skills to win the judges’ hearts. It was a valuable opportunity for ISE students to harness knowledge learnt in lessons and develop some practical solutions for real world.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. 20180927-CILTHK-Logistics-and-Transport-Student-Final-Year-Project-Award-2018-3

ISE student won the champion of CILTHK Logistics & Transport Student Final Year Project Award 2018

Miss CHUNG Ka Man (Carmen), who is a graduate student of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), received the champion of CILTHK Logistics & Transport Student Final Year Project Award 2018, an open competition by The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport Hong Kong (CILTHK). Carmen, who gradated from BSc (Hons) in Logistics Engineering with Management (LEM) programme in 2018, won the competition with her final year project titled “A Taguchi-based Cold Chain Packaging System for Managing Multi-temperature Food Distribution in Multi-national Third-party Logistics Companies”, which was supervised by Dr KL Choy. The project made use of the Taguchi-based experiment settings to optimize the hybrid cold chain packaging for handling multi-temperature food distribution. Due to the growth of perishable food e-commerce, the proposed method is valuable in providing a reliable and effective temporary storage environment during the last mile delivery. The proposed method was also validated through the case study in multi-national logistics companies, and thus the work is deemed to be feasible and practical for the industrial uses. The competition is an annual event organized by the CILTHK, and is open to all final year undergraduates who are studying CILTHK accredited programmes with their individual thesis or group project appraised at Grade A. It aims to celebrate and highlight undergraduate students contributing the Best Practice Development in the field of Logistics or Transportation by recognizing their outstanding academic work. Congratulations again to the winner and we are very proud of our student for the excellent project work and performance.
