During the PolyU 15th Congregation, Ms Alison Yau, Director of Business Development, Rhombus International Hotels Group, was awarded the Outstanding PolyU SHTM Alumni Award 2009.

Ms Yau began her career in the Sales and Marketing field, and has filled almost every position that the hospitality sector has to offer since then. She was General Manager of the very successful Hotel LKF in Central before moving to the Group's headquarters. In her new position as Director of Business Development, Ms Yau is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Rhombus properties, as well as to explore and expand business opportunities in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the Asia Pacific.

As part of her commitment to the hospitality industry, Ms Yau has been teaching hotel related subjects at Christian Action under the Hong Kong SAR Government's Youth Pre-employment Training Programme. She is also a mentor of PolyU's Mentorship Programme where she mentors students of her alma mater by being their advisor, supporter and role model.

A graduate of SHTM's HD, BA and MSc programmes, Ms Yau has been an active member of the School's Alunmi Association and a steadfast supporter of the School's various activities and developments. The SHTM is proud to have such a fitting recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award.
