SHTM STRENGTHENS ITS FOOTHOLD IN THE MAINLAND CHINA

The SHTM's programmes in mainland China continue to go from strength to strength. Dr David Jones, Undergraduate Programmes Director, and Ms Chloe Lau, Programme Leader, attended the induction of sixty students into the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hotel and Catering Management programme in Xian on 29 August 2009. This is the fifth intake of the programme since its inception in 2005.

Professor Adele Ladkin, Postgraduate Programmes Director, and Dr Honggen Xiao, Programme Leader, were in Hangzhou on 19 September to welcome this year's intake of fifty-one students into the Master of Science in Hotel and Tourism Management programme. This year, students have the option to attend classes in either Hangzhou or Shenzhen. Classes in Shenzhen will begin on 11 October, when the SHTM will welcome twenty-four students into the programme, including six government officials from Guangdong Tourism Administration, twelve senior managers from OCT International Hotel Management Co. Ltd and six other industry professionals. The SHTM is committed to nurturing senior professionals and management executives in the hospitality and tourism field in the Pearl River Delta Region and, indeed, the whole of mainland China.
