The Chinese Language Centre (CLC) held the seminar series on Discipline-Specific Chinese on 13 March 2025. The professional Chinese seminar offered valuable insights into effective Chinese writing and communication within the optometry profession. Dr Bruce Chin, President of the Hong Kong Society of Professional Optometrists (HKSPO) and recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award in Community Service Achievement of PolyU School of Optometry 2024, shared practical techniques for clear written and verbal communication in Chinese, tailored to the unique demands of the industry. Participants explored essential writing strategies, real-world workplace scenarios, and the current landscape of optometry. Through this seminar, our teaching staff and students enhanced their professional communication skills and gained valuable industry-specific knowledge.
