MScGAH Students on their Programme
心若流雲--何梓慶與李日康漫談創作與散文
Since the pandemic, we have rekindled our language programme supporting the Sprouts Foundation. The programme aims to help students from underprivileged backgrounds, breaking the generational poverty cycle by raising their English language proficiency and helping them access higher band schools and tertiary education.
The Faculty is recognised as the official organiser of the Hong Kong Linguistics Olympiad (HKLO). HKLO is the accredited competition to allow pre-university students to participate in the international linguistics competitions (International Linguistics Olympiad and Asia Pacific Linguistics Olympiad). Students can learn more about the knowledge of world languages and improve their abilities of observation, logic and awareness of diversity while solving problems involving language data.
We are authorised by the China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters Management Center (CATTI Management Center) of the China International Communications Group (CICG) to organise the CATTI test in Hong Kong, with a view to uplifting the professional standard of Chinese-English translation in the city.
We are one of the institutions designated by the State Language Commission to hold the National Putonghua Proficiency Test and we provide training courses, talks and mock tests for participants. We have also developed Shumian Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (Written Chinese proficiency test) and Putonghua Shuiping Kaoshi (Putonghua proficiency test) for graduating PolyU students and the general public.
Our dedication goes beyond the classroom. Through Work-Integrated Education and Service-Learning, students have the opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience and make a positive impact on the community.
