Biography

Prof. Xingyu Wu is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Technology from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in 2018, and his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Technology from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2023. Currently, Prof. Wu serves as the Vice Chair of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Task Force on LLMs and Computational Intelligence for General-Purpose AI Systems.

Prof. Wu’s research focuses on three areas: Autonomous AI Systems, Causality-based Machine Learning, and Large Foundation Models. His work has been published in top-tier artificial intelligence venues and recognized with numerous honors. He received the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Nature-inspired Computing in 2025, the First Prize in the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society FLAME Technical Challenge in 2024, and the Top Performance Award at the ACM Multimedia Social Media Prediction Challenge in 2022.
