Established in 2015, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Choir (PolyU Choir) aims to cultivate its members’ abilities in music appreciation and help them explore different singing styles and genres. The Choir comprises students and staff from different departments, plus alumni, who are passionate about singing, and provides a platform for interaction through singing and musical activities.
The Choir gave its debut performance in the Musical Exchange Programme with St Catherine’s College Choir, University of Cambridge, in April 2016 at PolyU. In March 2018, selected members of the Choir paid a reciprocal visit to the University of Cambridge for a joint performance with the same choir. In this exchange concert, PolyU Choir was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform a sacred music repertoire with the St Catherine’s choir at one of the acoustically finest chapels in Cambridge. PolyU Choir also performed Chinese folk songs rearranged by contemporary composers, thus deepening cross-cultural exchange through music and singing.

Cambridge Exchange Programme: Concert at Emmanuel United Reformed Church, Cambridge, UK
As one of the University’s key art groups, the Choir celebrated the University’s 80th and 85th anniversaries by performing the theme songs at the launch ceremonies in 2016 and 2021 respectively. As part of the programme of the PolyU 85th Anniversary Art and Culture Series, they jointly performed with the PolyU Orchestra at The Power of Passion Concert. They also shared the stage with various internationally acclaimed musicians and revered artists at the PolyU 85th Anniversary Grand Concert in 2022, performed in the Ode to Joy - Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 Concert with PolyU Orchestra and Opera Hong Kong Chorus singers in March 2023, and the PolyU Grand Concert in December 2023, and presented Mozart's Requiem, a classic choral masterpiece in the history of classical music, in the Guided Concert by Alex Tam: Mozart’s Choral Classic, the finale of the PolyU Artist-in-Residence Programme 2023/24 in March 2024.
