Committed to promoting the richness and beauty of Chinese culture and fostering whole-person development, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) proudly launched the inaugural “PolyU Chinese Culture Festival” last year to celebrate the splendour and diversity of Chinese culture through various artistic themes and forms. The Festival aims to deepen appreciation of Chinese heritage and strengthen the sense of national pride and belonging to the Nation among staff, students and the wider community, helping to promote Hong Kong’s position as an East-meets-West Centre for International Cultural Exchange.

This year's PolyU Chinese Culture Festival was officially launched in July, featuring stage dramas, fashion shows, forums, seminars, thematic exhibitions, lectures, interactive workshops and more. We have invited distinguished scholars, experts, and artists for a wide array of activities in various artistic themes and forms, showcasing the unique value and charm of Chinese culture.

Hong Kong Premiere of the “Original Stage Production: The Legacy of Youth”
in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Dongjiang Water Supply to Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) launched the “PolyU Chinese Culture Festival” last March to celebrate the rich diversity of Chinese culture through various artistic themes and forms. The Festival aimed to deepen appreciation of Chinese heritage and strengthen a sense of pride and belonging to the Nation among our staff, students, and the wider community.

In honour of the 60th anniversary of the Dongjiang water supply to Hong Kong, we are pleased to collaborate with Guangdong University of Technology to host a series of events focused on national pride, including the “Original Stage Production: The Legacy of Youth” and an exhibition on the construction history of the Dongjiang Water Supply Project.

Centred on the theme of “Role Model of the Times”, the stage drama beautifully recounts the inspiring stories of university students from mainland China in the 1960s who dedicated themselves to the Dongjiang Water Supply Project construction. This work emphasises the Nation’s commitment for the well-being of Hong Kong residents and highlights the strong bond between the two regions. It illustrates that the motherland is always Hong Kong’s steadfast support, and having the Nation behind us is our greatest advantage for prosperity and stability. The stage drama has been included in the commemorative activities for the 60th anniversary of the Dongjiang Water Supply to Hong Kong by Guangdong Province and the HKSAR Government, and has received commendation from the Ministry of Education. The stage drama not only serves as a bridge for cultural exchange between mainland China and Hong Kong but also fosters understanding among young students from both regions, encouraging active participation in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Nation’s modernisation efforts.
