Engineering students snatch top honour in national competition

Recently, a team of eight mechanical engineering students won the Grand Prize of the Seventh “Mitsubishi Electric Automation Cup” National Automation Contest and Automation Innovative Design Contest for College Students co-organized by the Chinese Association of Automation and Mitsubishi Electric (China) Co. Ltd.

Based on the “eManufacturing” theme of the competition, contesting teams were required to make use of Mitsubishi Electric’s automation products to build innovative devices or models. Named “eManufacturing Line for Canned Plant”, the winning entry by the PolyU team could automate the manufacturing processing with customization, allowing customers to order canned plants according to their own preferences (e.g. the selection of plant species and patterns).
