Prof. George Woo, Visiting Chair Professor of Optometry and Emeritus Professor of the School of Optometry, will be honoured with the Essilor Award for Outstanding International Contributions to Optometry by the American Academy of Optometry on 25 October in Seattle, Washington, USA.

With a vision to unite optometrists and related professionals to treat and prevent blindness worldwide and especially on the Chinese mainland, Prof. Woo is recognized for leading PolyU in the establishment of Hong Kong’s sole optometry programme as well as his significant contributions in developing optometry in the Asia-Pacific Rim and around the world.
