CNERC-Rail won an Outstanding Project Award in an Innovation and Creativity Competition on Reinforcement Learning

The competition held in Nanjing was jointly organized by JiangSu Association of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Brain Laboratory, and POLIXIR. Hundreds of teams from local and foreign universities, research institutes and enterprises participated in the competition. CNERC-Rail’s team comprising Ms ZHU Qi and Mr. LU Yang presented their project entitled “Maglev suspension control based on Reinforcement Learning”. After several rounds of screening by a panel of academic and industrial experts, results were announced in Nov 2022. CNERC-Rail won the Outstanding Project Award together with 7 other teams.

Anhui Architectural Design and Research Institute visits CNERC-Rail Centre

Mr Zheng-An Xu (Former General Manager, Chief Engineer of Anhui Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd.) visited CNERC-Rail and research facilities in Industrial Centre on 11 November 2022. Prof Yi-Qing Ni (Director of CNERC-Rail) and Dr You-Wu Wang (Research Assistant Professor of CNERC-Rail) warmly welcomed Mr Xu, and introduced the latest developments and achievements of CNERC-Rail.  

Attending the Symposium on Implementing the Innovation and Technology Policy of the Hong Kong Chief Executive’s 2022 Policy Address

1st November 2022, Dr You-Wu Wang, Dr Wai-Kei Ao and Dr Zheng-Wei Chen (Research Assistant Professors of CNERC-Rail) were invited to attend the Symposium on Implementing the Innovation and Technology Policy of the Hong Kong Chief Executive’s 2022 Policy Address.   On behalf of Prof. Yi-Qing Ni (Director of CNERC-Rail), Drs. Wang, Ao and Chen introduced research profiles of CNERC-Rail to Prof. Dong Sun (Director of Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of Hong Kong). Prof. Dong Sun expressed his appreciation for the support of Prof. Yi-Qing Ni and the research team of CNERC-Rail.

Hangzhou Shenhao Technology Co., Ltd. visits CNERC-Rail Centre

Mr Jun-Jie Xiong (Deputy General Manager, Chairman Assistant of Hangzhou Shenhao Technology co., Ltd.) visited CNERC-Rail and research facilities in Industrial Centre on 28 October 2022. Prof Yi-Qing Ni (Director of CNERC-Rail) and Dr You-Wu Wang (Research Assistant Professor of CNERC-Rail) warmly welcomed Mr Xiong. Prof Ni also introduced the current research focus areas of CNERC-Rail and started a fruitful discussion with guest to explore in-depth collaboration on innovation, technology as well as application.

The China State Construction (Hong Kong) visits CNERC-Rail Centre

Mr HUANG, Jiang (Executive Deputy General Manager, Chairman of Housing, Mechanical and Electrical Company), Mr ZHANG, Ming (Deputy General Manager, Chairman of Civil Engineering and Foundation Company), et al., were accompanied by Prof. ZHAO, Victor (Deputy Director of Research and Innovation Office of PolyU), to visit our centre on October 10. Dr CHEN, Zheng-Wei, Research Assistant Professor of CNERC-Rail warmly welcomed Mr Huang and other senior management from The China State Construction (Hong Kong). He also introduced the research focus areas and achievements of CNERC-Rail.

Congratulations to Dr. CHEN Zheng-Wei and Dr. LIU Wen-Qiang for winning the “Youth Science Fund Project” of the National Natural Science Foundation of China

Under keen competition, 39 research projects conducted by HKPolyU’s young scholars won the "Youth Science Fund Project" of the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2022, making the most number of “Youth Science Fund Project” in Hong Kong institutions. Among them, two projects belong to CNERC-Rail, namely, "Mechanism of Wind Load Reduction by Surface Blowing/Suction Method for High-speed Trains and Optimization Strategy under Wind Environment" led by Dr. CHEN Zheng-Wei and "Research on The Generalization of The Localization Model of The Components of The Catenary Support Device on Different Lines of The High-speed Railway" led by Dr. LIU Wen-Qiang.

Interview with Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB)

Dr Su-Mei Wang, Research Assistant Professor of the CNERC-Rail was interviewed by TVB to introduce the development of high-speed maglev and its application in Hong Kong.

China Merchants Group visits CNERC-Rail Centre

Mr Ren-Jie Deng, Executive Vice President of China Merchants Group (CMG) led a delegation team to visit CNERC-Rail and research facilities in Industrial Centre on 6 September 2022. Dr You-Wu Wang, Research Assistant Professor of CNERC-Rail warmly welcomed Mr Deng and other senior management from CMG. He also introduced the research focus areas and achievements of CNERC-Rail.

China Development Bank visits CNERC-Rail Centre

Dr XiGuang Li (Chief Executive Hong Kong Branch of China Development Bank) led a delegation team to visit CNERC-Rail and research facilities in Industrial Centre on 26 August 2022. Prof. Qingyan Chen (Director of PAIR), Dr. Wai Kei Ao (Research Assistant Professor of CNERC-Rail), Victor Zhao (Assistant Director of Research and Innovation Office), warmly welcomed Dr. XiGuang Li and other senior administrative members from China Development Bank. They also introduced the current research focus and achievements of CNERC-Rail to the guests.

PolyU Council Members visit CNERC-Rail Centre

3 new Council Members Mr. Chew Fook-aun, Mr. Rayman Chui, and Ir Yau Kwok-fai visit CNERC-Rail Centre escorted by Prof. Chao (VPRI) and Victor Zhao (RIO) on 16 August 2022.
