27th International Conference on Magnetically Levitated Systems and Linear Drives (MAGLEV 2026) and Delivered a Keynote Speech

16 Oct 2026

From October 14 to 16, 2026, Prof. Yi-Qing Ni, Director of CNERC-Rail (HK Branch), attended the 27th International Conference on Magnetically Levitated Systems and Linear Drives (MAGLEV 2026) in Qingdao, China. MAGLEV is the world’s most prestigious and largest international academic conference in the field of maglev, bringing together high-level research forces, industrial resources, and engineering practice achievements globally. It serves as an important platform for exchanging cutting-edge technologies, identifying development trends, and deepening international cooperation, and is held biennially. This year’s conference was themed “Advancing Maglev Technology Innovation for Global Sustainable Development”, focusing on frontier research, engineering applications, and industrial integration in maglev systems and linear drive technologies. More than 300 scholars, experts, and industry representatives from home and abroad attended the event.

On October 15, Prof. Ni delivered a keynote speech entitled “From Multimodal Sensing to Intelligent Decision-Making: AI Technologies for Condition Monitoring and Fault Detection of Maglev Systems”, introducing a machine-learning-based framework for condition monitoring and fault detection of maglev systems, including multimodal monitoring, TFS-CNN, unsupervised domain adaptation, Bayesian dynamic forecasting, and a visual question-answering system. In addition, as Co-Chair of the Programme Committee of the conference, Prof. Ni chaired the keynote session (7–10), which featured presentations by experts from CRRC Zhuzhou Times Electric, the German Railway Technical Research Institute, and the University of Stuttgart, on topics including high-speed maglev electrical systems, urban maglev systems in Europe, and advanced control of EMS-type maglev vehicles. Through this conference, the Centre showcased its research achievements in intelligent maglev operation and maintenance, and engaged in in-depth exchanges with international peers in the field, laying a foundation for future collaboration.
