Upon request, CAF technical staff may provide basic animal handling training to users who do not have experience on laboratory animal handling or who want refresher training from CAF.  Users shall fill in and submit the “CAF Animal Handling Training Requisition Form” (Form 7) to CAF.  CAF staff will provide basic animal handling techniques to users such as animal restraint, injection techniques and organ/tissue collection techniques upon request.  Applicants may also be trained by their Principal Investigators and team members who are registered CAF users.

Prior submission of the forms and valid DH license are required for users who intend to acquire animal handling training from CAF technical staff, Principal Investigators and team members.   Potential users must be under the supervision of the aforementioned personnel while practicing animal handling skill within CAF premises.

Users must attend users training seminars in order to conduct animal works in CAF.  The schedule of CAF user training seminars are organized on a bi-monthly basis.  Schedule of the seminars is available on CAF website’s “Event” page.  Users shall fill in "CAF User Training Seminar Registration Form" (Form 8) and submit it to CAF office for training seminar registration.

Access right is only granted to competent person with animal handling skills. After submission of all documents listed above, CAF Technical Officers arrange a time to assess his/her animal handling and basic experimental skills in order to ensure the new user is competent and trained for animal handling. Once completed, access right is granted to the new user.
