Dr Danchen Shao’s research interests lie at the intersection of disability studies, family studies, happiness research and gender studies. Her recent work explores the everyday lives, digital practices, and intimate relationships of young adults with intellectual disabilities in contemporary China, particularly in the post-pandemic context. She is also committed to ethnographic and participatory research methods that foreground the voices and lived experiences of marginalised communities.
