Prof. Joanne Yip Yiu-wan led a ground-breaking initiative that culminated in the development of a cutting-edge line of pressure-controlled wearable soft braces. These innovative braces represent a significant advancement in the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, offering enhanced efficiency and improved patient compliance. Prof. Yip’s exceptional scientific research acumen has garnered well-deserved recognition, as evidenced by her project securing funding from the prestigious Research Grant Council (RGC) Research Impact Fund (RIF) for the 2023/24 period. This accomplishment places her at the forefront among local universities in terms of the number of funded projects. The generous funding will enable Prof. Yip and her team to bridge the gap between scientific discoveries and real-world applications, thereby delivering even more impactful solutions that benefit society at large.
