Summary
Abstract
With the rapid advancement of aerial autonomous systems, achieving intelligent control and perception under complex and uncertain environments has become a critical scientific challenge. This seminar aims to explore the integration of adaptive robust control and artificial intelligence methods to enhance the autonomous decision-making capabilities, autonomy, and stability of aerial vehicles operating in highly dynamic and constrained conditions. Meanwhile, it highlights real-world applications of UAVs in intelligent information perception and actuation. Through theoretical innovation and cross-disciplinary integration, we aim to explore the combination of autonomous decision-making, system optimisation and aerial intelligent systems, aiming to realise full-chain “perception-to-action” control on intelligent flight platforms. Ultimately, it seeks to provide a new solution for the advanced application of next-generation aerial intelligent systems in agricultural production, infrastructure inspection, environmental monitoring, and other domains.
Speaker
Dr LIU Kang received the PhD in Control Science and Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 2022. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. Prior to that, he was a Research Associate at the School of Computer Science, The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. His current research focuses on integrating AI technology, intelligent control, unmanned aircraft, and autonomous robotics, with applications spanning smart agriculture, building inspection, aeronautics and astronautics, and other fields. His work emphasises both theoretical innovation and practical implementation, aiming to drive industry-wide intelligent transformation and enhance productivity. He has published over 50 academic papers, with more than 1000 SCI-indexed citations, H-index 20+, and more than 5 authorised patents. He actively serves as a reviewer for several leading international journals and conferences. He is a member of IEEE, IES, and CAA, and serves on multiple IEEE/RAS Technical Committees.
