Student Ambassador: Cleo

Transferred from: School of Continuing and Professional Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Major: BA (Hons) in Social Policy and Administration

Something about me:

I graduated from CUSCS with a higher diploma in 2013 and now a SPA final-year student. Heading back to university at the age of 28 was a tough challenge for me. I still remembered the constant overwhelming feeling in the first semester. The stress came from heavy academic workloads, feeling lost, and social isolation. I later realised that all above is not easy to cope with as we, transfer students, only got half of the time to adapt to the new environment, when compared with traditional students who have 4 years.

As I still wanted to taste some fun in my university life, and longed for my own community, I joined SYA Project and became a student ambassador last year. To all the transfer newbies who are reading this message, I would like you to know that there will be times of struggle, loneliness and anxiety. These bad emotions are absolutely normal. I am here to try my best offering my help to you. I am happy to be your peer support helping you to get through this journey. Please don’t be shy, you can simply ask any questions, from where the best coffee in PolyU is, or want to seek advices, SYA’s door is always open for you.
