Congratulations! Welcome to PolyU - the place for your new chapter!

The SYA Project continues to organize orientation activity particularly for the Senior Year Admitted (SYA) freshmen of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University this year as in the past two years. Ten sessions of orientation activity were held from late July to late August during the summer vacation to introduce the “must-know” information for their better learning experience at the university.

Various PolyU supporting departments were invited to the orientation activities for presentation. The Office of General University Requirements (OGUR) explained the graduation requirement of SYA students and the differences in study mode between community college and university. The Office of Counselling and Wellness (OCW) introduced the importance of wellness and the accessible campus counselling service. The Office of Careers and Placement Services (CAPS) recommended local and overseas work-integrated education and promoted career services including mock interview workshop and CV clinic to students. The Chinese Mainland Affairs Office (CMAO) and International Affairs Office (IAO) also shared the application procedures and requirements of mainland and overseas exchange. Student Ambassadors also shared their own university lives and addressed freshmen’s concerns encouraging them to explore their ways of university.

Comprehensively concluding the evaluation and comments from the participants, the SYA project team was glad that the orientation activities help the new students to integrate into the campus and being a part of PolyU Family.
