Mr Anthony Lau

Biography

Mr Anthony Lau severed as Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) from 2007 to 2019, with the responsibility for managing the global operations of the HKTB and leading the marketing of Hong Kong as one of the world’s premier destinations for business and leisure travellers.

During his time with HKTB, Mr Lau spearheaded the development of the HKTB’s strategic direction, guiding the organisation to respond to emerging tourism trends with creative strategies and campaigns, and strengthening partnerships with different stakeholders. Working closely with the Tourism Commission of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, and members of tourism-related sectors and organisations, Mr Lau oversees the development and promotion of the Hong Kong tourism brand to visitors from around the world.

Mr Lau also serves on a number of tourism-related organisations, including the Board of the Pacific Asia Travel Association, the Advisory Committee on Travel Agents and the Advisory Committee on Cruise Industry. In addition, he is a director of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Cooperation and Promotion Council, an executive committee member of the Hong Kong Arts Festival Society, and a member of the Advisory Board of PMQ.

Mr Lau has substantial experience in international sales and marketing, as well as management skills. He began his career in Hong Kong with Philip Morris International in the 1980s and worked his way through the ranks to become a member of the management team. Mr Lau also worked in other markets in Asia Pacific besides Hong Kong, including Indonesia, Taiwan and Singapore.
