SHTM Tops World Ranking

The SHTM has again excelled in the university rankings, claiming the top spot in the "Hospitality and Tourism Management" category of ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023.

This is the seventh consecutive year in which the SHTM has been recognised as the world's number one by ShanghaiRanking, a globally respected institution. The School won first place in 2017, the first time ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects included the "Hospitality and Tourism Management" category, and has held the top spot ever since.

SHTM Recognised for Outstanding Tourism Education

The SHTM was deeply honoured to be bestowed the 2023 ISTTE Institutional Achievement Award by the International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators (ISTTE) in recognition of its significant contributions to tourism education.

SHTM Partners with World Travel and Tourism Council to Define the Future of Global Retail Tourism

The SHTM has joined hands with the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) to support the sustainable development of global tourism.

IMPACT2023 to Explore Tourism and Hospitality in the Post-Pandemic Era

The IMPACT2023 conference, dedicated to bridging theory and practice in tourism and hospitality, is organised by the SHTM and its Hospitality and Tourism Research Centre in collaboration with STR. It will take place at Hotel ICON in Hong Kong on 7 and 8 December 2023.

2024 Hong Kong PolyU Winter School®

The Hong Kong PolyU Winter School® is the SHTM's flagship Executive Development Programme. Designed to help the service industry nurture people and discover new opportunities, the programme is jointly organised by the SHTM and the Hong Kong Hotels Association. The 2024 programme will be held on the School's premises from 8 to 13 January.

Ph.D. Opportunities at the SHTM

The SHTM invites applications to the Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) and the Ph.D. Scholarship scheme for admission in 2023/2024. Successful applicants will receive a monthly assistantship in the form of a stipend to support their studies. Recipients of the assistantship will be required to provide support for teaching and scholarly activities at the SHTM.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

The SHTM received an award from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for its 30 years of contributions as an Affiliate Member. The School is one of the earliest UNWTO TedQual certified institution and has contributed in many research and educational support activities by organising conferences in collaboration with UNWTO.

SHTM VISITORS

7-18 August – Chengdu University, China

As part of PolyU's Belt & Road Student Mobility Scheme, a group of 10 undergraduate students from Chengdu University's School of Tourism and Culture Industry visited the School for two weeks for an enriching exchange of knowledge and experiences.
