ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION
Dr Neil Li has obtained support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China for a study entitled "Market Bilateral Image Information Mining and its Influence Mechanism on Consumers' Purchase Decisions".
D.HTM students Mr Barry Ng and Mr Noppadol Manosuthi received The Padma and Hari Harilela Scholarship 2018/19. The scholarship was established in 2011 by Dr Hari N. Harilela, head of the Harilela Group, which plays a significant role in the professional development of the hotel industry.
Professor Rob Law was identified as a 2019 Highly Cited Researcher in Social Science by the Web of Science Group (SSCI/SCI). This award is given to researchers "ranking in the top 1% by citations for the publication field and year".

Professor Law also obtained support from the Public Policy Research Funding Scheme for his project "Developing Hong Kong's Smart Tourism".
The Tourism Sub-Alliance under the University Alliance of the Silk Road was established in Xian, China on 19 September 2019. The founding members were the SHTM, Xian Jiaotong University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Mae Fah Luang University.
Every year, the SHTM celebrates World Tourism Day by organising its own Dress Orange Day. This year, the event was held on 24 September. SHTM staff and students wore orange clothing, the School's colour, to show their support and demonstrate unity. The staff and students were invited to take part in a "Best Dressed" competition. The winners were two Ph.D. students: Ms Kimberly Peterkin and Ms Hakimeh Nasiri.
