ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

Professor Cathy Hsu received an Alumni Achievement Award from the College of Human Sciences, Iowa State University on 26 October 2018, where she received her Master's and PhD degrees.

Professor Haiyan Song, Dr Eric Chan and PhD graduate Dr Lingxu Zhou received First Prize for their co-authored paper entitled "Tourism-induced Mobility: A Relational Typology" at the Annual Conference of the Tourism Geography Committee, the Geographical Society of China in Wuhu, China, on 27-28 October 2018.

Mr Richard Hatter, SHTM Adjunct Associate Professor and General Manager of Hotel ICON, received the "General Manager of the Year Award", which is the hospitality industry's equivalent of the Oscars, at the BMW Hotelier Awards Greater China 2018 presentation ceremony in Shanghai, China, on 30 October.

Ph.D. student Mr Guy Llewellyn, D.HTM student Ms Angela Chu and MSc student Ms Christina He, formed a graduate team and, under the guidance of Dr Basak Denizci Guillet, won 1st place in the STR Student Market Study Competition in New York, USA, on 11 November 2018.

Professor Brian King received the "Outstanding Contribution by an Individual" award at the 2018 RACV Victorian Tourism Awards ceremony in Melbourne, Australia, on 22 November. The Victorian Tourism Awards represent an industry framework for peer recognition, which fosters a culture for business development excellence and innovation.

Ms Wang Yi-chieh, Jessie, Year 2 in the BSc in Tourism & Events Management programme and Mr Yu Chang-yu, Tim, Year 2 in the BSc in Hotel Management programme, received 2018 Club Managers' Association Scholarship. The scholarship will provide funding for them to attend the CMAA 92nd World Conference in Nashville, USA on 24-28 February 2019.
