Dr Mimi Li was invited to be a speaker at the 4th Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau Young Scholars Tourism Research Forum Academic Salon in Guangzhou, China on 27-28 May 2017.
Dr Young Choi presented a paper entitled "Developing a Conceptual Framework of Media Technology Effects on Digital Destinations" at the 2017 Academy of Global Hospitality and Tourism Conference in Cheongju, Korea on 26-28 May.
Professor Kaye Chon, Professor Haiyan Song, Professor Brian King, Professor Hanqin Qiu, Dr Sam Kim, Dr Henry Tsai, Dr Qu Xiao, Dr Mehmet Koseoglu, Dr Eka Putra, Ms Janelle Chan and Ph.D. student Mr Jerry Zheng attended the 15th Asia Pacific CHRIE Conference in Bali, Indonesia on 31 May - 3 June 2017. Dr Kim presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Effects of Film Nostalgia". Dr Tsai presented co-authored papers entitled "Related or Unrelated Diversification? A Study on the Relationship between Diversification Strategy and Tourism Firm Performance in China" and "The Impacts of the Sharing Economy on the Lodging Industry: A Case Study of Airbnb in Taiwan". Dr Koseoglu and Dr Putra presented a co-authored paper entitled "Usage of Strategy Tools and Organizational Performance in the Hospitality Industry: Evidence from China". Ms Chan presented a co-authored paper entitled "What is Beautiful We Book: The Effect of Hotel Visual Appeal on Expected Service Quality and Online Booking Intention".

Professor Kaye Chon, Dr Jinsoo Lee, Dr Soyon Paek, Dr Markus Schuckert and Dr Dan Wang attended the 23rd Asia Pacific Tourism Association Annual Conference in Busan, Korea on 18-21 June 2017. Dr Lee presented a co-authored paper entitled "Film-Induced Tourism in Thailand: An Influence of International Tourists' Intention to Visit Film Shooting Location". Dr Paek presented a co-authored paper entitled "How to Manage Job Satisfaction in Macau Casino Hotels: Linked to Interpersonal Connection and Interaction between a Leader and a Follower". Dr Wang presented a co-authored paper entitled "Conceptualization of Tourists' Decision Making in Motion".
Dr Vincent Tung presented a co-authored paper entitled "Does the Listener Matter? How a Listener Affects the Storyteller's Memory of a Tourism Experience" at the 48th TTRA International Conference in Quebec City, Canada on 20-22 June 2017.
Professor Haiyan Song, Dr Lorenzo Masiero and Dr Stephen Pratt attended the 6th International Association for Tourism Economics Conference in Rimini, Italy on 21-23 June 2017. Professor Song presented co-authored papers entitled "Tourism Demand Modelling - A Nonlinear Approach", "Forecasting Tourism Demand Using Search Query Data: A Hybrid Modelling Approach" and "Tourism and Economic Globalisation: A Review of Literature". Dr Masiero presented co-authored papers entitled "An Analysis of Long-haul Tourist Preferences for Stop-over Destination Visits" and "Reference-dependent Behavior in Destination Choice: Stated Choice Experiment for Long-haul Leisure Travels". Dr Pratt presented co-authored papers entitled "Economic Impact of Low-cost Carrier in a Saturated Transport Market: Net Benefits or Zero-sum Game?"

Professor Kaye Chon, Dr Jinsoo Lee and Dr Dan Wang attended the 16th Asia Pacific Forum for Graduate Students Research in Tourism in Daegu, Korea on 22-24 June 2017. Professor Chon delivered a keynote speech on the topic "Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism Industry".
Dr Young Choi presented papers entitled "The Cognitive Process of Wellness Information in Spa Experience: Case of Jinan Red Ginseng Spa" and "Applying the Concept of Power into Social Media Research in Tourism and Hospitality" at the 1st Global Congress of Special Interest Tourism & Hospitality in Beppu, Japan, on 24-26 June 2017.
Dr Ksenia Kirillova presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Sociogenesis of Leisure Travel: Insights from Russian Society" at the Critical Tourism Studies VII Conference in Palma de Mallorca, Spain on 25-29 June 2017.
Dr Henry Tsai, Dr Sabrina Huang, Mr Chris Chan, Mr Dave Chan, Ms Ada Fong and Ms Loretta Pang attended the 2017 International Conference on Information and Social Science in Kyoto, Japan on 27-29 June. Dr Tsai presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Impact of Information Overload and Information Confusion on Theory of Planned Behavior". Dr Huang presented a co-authored paper entitled "Homeland Attachment and Travel Motivation: The Case of Overseas Chinese". Mr Chris Chan, Mr Dave Chan and Ms Fong presented a co-authored paper entitled "Tourists' Perception of Ecotourism in Hong Kong: A Study of Hong Kong Wetland Park". Ms Fong and Ms Pang presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Impact of Cultural Distance on Tourism Movements: A Study of Hong Kong".
Dr Barry Mak attended the 6th International Assessment in Higher Education Conference in Manchester, UK on 28-29 June 2017.
Professor Haiyan Song and PhD student Ms Lisa Yip attended the 11th Annual American Association of Wine Economists Conference in Padua, Italy on 28 June - 2 July 2017. Professor Song presented a co-authored paper entitled "Modeling and Forecasting the Demand for Imported Wine in China". Ms Yip presented a co-authored paper entitled "Exploring the Meaning of Wine to the Chinese and French Wine Consumers".
Dr Barry Mak presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Positioning of Small- and Medium-sized Retail Travel Agencies in Hong Kong" at the 7th Advances in Hospitality & Tourism Marketing and Management Conference in Famagusta, Cyprus on 10-15 July 2017.
Dr Mimi Li attended the 2nd Tourism Behaviour Conference in Beijing, China on 14-16 July 2017.
Professor Cathy Hsu attended Collaborative Leadership in Higher Education 2017 in Edmonton, Canada on 24-25 July.
Professor Kaye Chon attended the "Deans' and Directors' Program" at the 2017 Annual Summer Conference & Marketplace in Baltimore, Maryland USA on 26-28 July.
