Tom obtained his BSocSc (Hons) in Psychology from Hong Kong Baptist University. He is particularly interested in understanding the maintenance of visual and kinesthetic representations during concurrent action observation and motor imagery, as well as identifying the cognitive strategies for facilitating the maintenance of visual and kinesthetic representations, that is orienting attention to specific motor features. The research will contribute to the knowledge of motor learning, especially about how the provision of cognitive attention training can facilitate motor learning and motor precision. Tom’s research typically involves the use of cognitive assessment and neurophysiological techniques such as event-related potentials (ERPs) and electroencephalography (EEG) to investigate the facilitating effect of cognitive manipulation on encoding relevant visual representation and maintaining kinesthetic representation. RS provides a platform for students to explore the brain mechanism with abundant neurophysiological tools.
