Application for Hall Residence in the Undergraduate Halls (2024/25 Semester 1 & 2)

1) Admission Policy of Student Halls for Undergraduate Students

2) Application Period: 2 May (10:00am) to 20 May (11:59pm) Hong Kong Time

3) Eligibility:

All full-time students in UGC-funded degree programmes are eligible.

Students who cannot maintain their full-time student status will not be eligible for Hall residence and their hall applications will be invalid. Students who have already checked in will be required to check-out in two-weeks’ time.

4) Admission Procedures and Hall Regulations:

Applicants should abide by the rules and procedures on hall admission and allocation of hall, room type and room as stated in General Information on Application for Undergraduate Halls. Students once admitted shall comply with the Hall Regulations of the respective Student Halls (Hung Hom Halls / Homantin Halls), which may be revised by the University as and when necessary and appropriate from time to time. Applicants should read the terms stated in the above-mentioned websites before submitting their hall applications. It is assumed that they agree to comply with these regulations once they send in their application.

6) Residential Period: from 30 Aug 2024 to 30 May 2025 (inclusive)

7) Hall Fees (The Hall Fees for 2024/25 will be confirmed before the announcement of the hall application result.)

8) Application Procedures & Tentative Schedule:

Applicants should pay attention to the following application procedures and schedule, and be responsible to check with the Hall Administration in case they do not receive the relevant email notification timely. Application, acceptance of hall offer and payment after the respective deadline will generally not be accepted.

Applicants should receive an email confirming that their application has been successfully submitted and a unique reference number will be provided. If they do not receive the email in time, please contact the Hall Administration at 3159 0000 immediately.

Announcement of Hall application result

20 Jun

The application result will be sent by email to the PolyU email account (studentid@connect.polyu.hk) of the applicant.
Deadline of on-line hall offer acceptance

26 Jun

Applicants should indicate acceptance of hall offers before deadline. Otherwise, their hall offers will be regarded as “declined” by default.

Payment deadline of Hall Fee

2 Jul

Applicants should settle the debit note before the deadline, or their application will be cancelled automatically. The debit note can be downloaded from Student Account Portal here.

On-line application for Change of Hall/Room Type if necessary (optional)

5–9 Jul

This is only applicable to students with hall offer and payment settled on or before 2 Jul.

Successful applicants can only pair-up with friend(s)who is/are of the same gender and be assigned to the same hall building, individual hall and room type.

9) Notes to All Applicants:

  1. All students who require hall residence in the next academic year should submit their hall application during the application period.
  2. To address the imbalance between male and female hall places, a cluster of 8 rooms on every female floors of co-ed UG halls in Hung Hom Halls is set aside for male students. A typical floor plan shows the change here.
  3. Unsuccessful applicants will be placed on the waiting list and will be notified when there are vacancies. The waiting list, if any, will be dissolved by 31 March 2025.
  4. The earliest check-in date for non-local students will be 28 Aug 2024. Check-in prior to this date must be applied with justified reasons by email to student.halls@polyu.edu.hk (Hung Hom Halls) or Homantin.halls@polyu.edu.hk (Homantin Halls). Early check-in without prior approval will not be considered in general. If the request is accepted, students will have to pay an administration fee of $200.
