ZHANG Jiaqi

I am Jiaqi Zhang, Jack, a full-time PhD candidate under Prof. Kenneth Fong’s supervision. I received my bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the West China School of Medicine, Sichuan University, and then my master’s degree in neurological sciences from the Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. My PhD research project, titled “The effects of priming intermittent theta burst stimulation on modulating sensorimotor cortical oscillation and augmenting motor learning in people with stroke”, focuses on the utility of noninvasive brain stimulation in modulating neuroplasticity and behavioural learning. The ultimate goals of my research are (1) to translate preclinical neuroscience discoveries to optimise clinical outcomes, and (2) to probe the underlying neural mechanism in association with behavioural recovery after neurological injuries. Studying at RS, PolyU, I have received enormous support from my supervisor and other faculty members. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art neuroscience techniques, which allow me to carry out cutting-edge research.
