Biography

Dr Leong obtained her PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before joining RS as Assistant Professor, she pursued postdoctoral training at La Trobe Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre, La Trobe University, where she gained extensive experience in the management of tendinopathy. She also received postdoctoral training at the Department of Orthopaedics & Traumatology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and was appointed as Research Assistant Professor by CUHK from 2018 to 2021, where she actively involved herself in teaching and research on sports science and rehabilitation.

Dr Leong received over HKD 4.1 million research funding to develop evidence-based rehabilitation programme for the prevention and management of shoulder disorders, particularly on rotator cuff tendinopathy. She is also interested in exercise-based rehabilitation for musculoskeletal disorders, sports biomechanics and musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.  Her research works have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented in both local and international conferences. 

Dr Leong has been actively involved in community service, particularly in promoting the awareness of shoulder health in Hong Kong. She launched the “Strong Shoulders Campaign” dedicated to providing quality and convenient onsite consultation and shoulder screening services to the community, as well as to enhancing the awareness of early prevention and management of shoulder problems.
