Summary
With fossil fuels driving nearly 70% of global emissions, transitioning to offshore energy resources is vital for carbon neutrality targets, including Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050. However, standalone marine renewables suffer from intermittency, creating an urgent demand for integrated hybrid offshore solutions.
In this research salon, Prof. DUAN will present the final annual progress of his project. This project investigates the feasibility, survivability, and efficiency of an innovative Hybrid Floating Solar-Wave Converter Hub (FloSWACH) in Hong Kong waters through advanced numerical modeling and experimental testing.
Ultimately, this initiative aims to establish a robust framework for hybrid energy deployment, advancing cutting-edge renewable technology and sustainable development for Hong Kong and coastal cities worldwide.
