Summary

The deterioration of civil infrastructure due to steel corrosion is a significant global challenge, leading to substantial rehabilitation and maintenance costs worldwide. Additionally, the construction industry's growing emphasis on ease of manufacturing, transportation efficiency, and assembly highlights the need for innovation in structural forms and materials. In this research salon, Prof. Yu will present the first annual progress of a project aimed at addressing these pressing issues. The project explores the development of next-generation structural frames using innovative smart fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP)-steel sections.
