Summary

It is widely acknowledged that climate change is the single biggest health threat worldwide. However, although it is unequivocal that climate change affects human health, it remains challenging to accurately estimate the scale and impact of many climate-sensitive health risks.

This presentation aims to 1) illustrate extensions of the analytical framework established within a multi-country collaboration network to provide global maps of health impacts associated with exposure to environmental factors (e.g., air pollution, non-optimal temperatures, temperature variability, and tropical cyclones, flooding, et c). 2) show the latest method and results of environmental exposure assessment. 3) discuss the vulnerability of populations, their resilience to the current rate of climate change and the extent and pace of adaptation. 4) explore potential modification factors to mitigate the health risks from environmental extremes.
