 Abstract:

The global energy crisis sheds light onto the future of emission reduction in near time, with more than 130 countries and regions joining the Race to Zero campaign. It is obvious that the transition to low carbon is far from being accomplished and is more challenging than many expected. Expediting the realisation of carbon peak and neutrality while balancing economic growth with environmental and climate goals have become a concern of environmentalists.

As the developer of the Blue Map pollution database, Ma Jun believes that it is important to draw on the experience of dealing with local pollution to tackle climate change. Ma Jun and his organization IPE has created a Zero Carbon Map, a greenhouse-gas database similar to the Blue Map pollution database, for different regions and industries. The Zero Carbon Map makes emissions data accessible and straightforward through visualization and mapping. In addition, IPE has also developed carbon indices, evaluating 30 provinces, 110 cities, 500 listed companies and over 500 major brands, promoting multi-stakeholders to contribute to China's ‘dual carbon’ goals and global climate change governance.
