Prof. YOU Ruoyu

Summary

In this research salon, Prof. YOU will present the significant results and key findings from her research project. The primary objectives of this project are to develop a city-scale Fast Fluid Dynamics (FFD) engine for simulating air contaminant transport, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the FFD modeling engine in identifying major emission sources, and to establish a comprehensive air pollution modeling platform tailored for Hong Kong. This innovative platform leverages advanced simulation techniques to enhance our understanding of urban air quality and support more effective environmental management and policy-making in densely populated urban environments.

Prof. YOU Ruoyu

Associate Professor
Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering (BEEE), PolyU

Dr. Ruoyu You received her B.Eng. degree from the Department of Building Science at Tsinghua University in 2013. She received her Ph.D. degree from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University in 2018. Dr. You joined the Department of Building Services Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as an Assistant Professor in September, 2018. Her research interests include air quality in enclosed environments, computational fluid dynamics, contaminant transport, and laser-based sensors for indoor air quality. Dr. You has secured multiple research funding, such as the Early Career Scheme and the General Research Fund from the Hong Kong Research Grant Council. She is a co-Principal Investigator of a large project funded by the high impact Theme-based Research Scheme. More information is available from http://youruoyu.wixsite.com/home.
