RCSV congratulated Prof. Chen Xiaojun, RCSV Management Committee Member; Director of University Research Facility in Big Data Analytics; Chair Professor, Department of Applied Mathematics on receiving the American Mathematical Society on receiving the American Mathematical Society (AMS) Fellowship 2023 in recognition of her contributions to mathematical optimization, stochastic variational inequalities, and the analysis of nondifferentiable functions.

Prof. Chen has an excellent track record in academic research and research leadership. She has published over 90 research papers in top journals of applied mathematics. In terms of grants, she has received over 20 grants from Australian Research Council, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences and the Hong Kong Research Grants Council. She was awarded over HK$3M from the RGC Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) in 2022.

Prof. Chen has made significant contribution to the promotion and maintenance of high professional standards in mathematical research in PolyU for different roles such as the Director of University Research Facility in Big Data Analytics (UBDA) and PolyU Joint Laboratory of Applied Mathematics. She serves as Area Editor/Associate Editor of seven international journals including Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) Journal on Numerical Analysis and SIAM Journal on Optimization.
