Prof. Guangping Zheng

Biography

Professor Guang-Ping Zheng received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Condensed Matter Physics from Sun Yat-sen University in 1991 and 1993, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in 2002. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology from 2002 to 2004. Before Joining the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Dec. 2007, he was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong. Dr. Zheng’s research is in the areas of computational materials science, nanomechanics, and applications of nanomaterials in energy conversion and storage. In the capacity of Principal Investigator, he has secured 8 research grants from government agencies. Dr. Zheng has published over 140 papers in refereed scientific journals. He is a member of editorial boards of several journals in his research fields.
