The Research Centre for Privacy and Security Technologies in Future Smart Systems (RCPST) successfully hosted a distinguished lecture on 14 September 2026, featuring Prof. YU Ting from Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), UAE.
Invited by Prof. HU Haibo, Director of RCPST and Associate Head of the Department of EEE, Prof. YU visited RCPST and delivered an insightful lecture entitled “Overcoming the Retrieval Barrier: Indirect Prompt Injection in the Wild for LLM Systems.” The talk focused on indirect prompt injection attacks in retrieval-based LLM applications, where malicious instructions embedded in external data sources may influence model behavior after being retrieved into the model context.
The distinguished lecture was followed by an engaging discussion and Q&A session, during which faculty members, researchers, and students exchanged views with Prof. Yu on prompt injection, retrieval security, and emerging threats to LLM and agentic systems. The visit also provided an opportunity for Prof. YU and researchers at RCPST to discuss shared research interests in AI security, privacy, and trustworthy intelligent systems.
Prof. YU’s visit strengthened the academic exchange between RCPST and leading researchers in AI and cybersecurity, while providing participants with timely insights into the security challenges arising from retrieval-augmented and agentic LLM systems.
