At the PolyU Northern Metropolis Future Forum Season 2 (PolyU NMFF 2), Professor Haiyan Song, Mr and Mrs Chan Chak Fu Professor in International Tourism and Director of Digital Transformation of Tourism, delivered a keynote presentation on “Techno-Regenerative Tourism – Building a Net-Positive Future for Northern Metropolis.”
In his address, Professor Song began by highlighting “The Urgent Need for a New Tourism Paradigm,” framing global challenges and Hong Kong’s unique opportunities as the foundation for discussion. He then introduced the concept of Techno-Regenerative Tourism, a forward-thinking approach that integrates technological innovation with sustainability principles.
Professor Song shared his vision:
“We will leverage the San Tin Technopole’s innovation to create a tourism ecosystem that is data-driven, community-centric, experiential and educational, resilient, and future-proof.”
The forum gathered numerous experts from government, academia, industry, and local charitable and non-profit organizations as speakers, alongside more than 300 participants. Discussions focused on transforming the traditionally perceived dichotomy between conservation and development into a mutually beneficial economic model for the Northern Metropolis.
