At the PolyU Academy for Artificial Intelligence (PAAI), our long-term mission is to make AI accessible to all, enhancing intelligence across society and ensuring its benefits are widely shared. Our team is committed to bridging the final mile in deploying large AI models, enabling businesses, hospitals, and government agencies to effectively leverage AI in real-world scenarios. Integrating domain-specific data and expertise into these models is key to their successful adoption.

In the contemporary era, artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping our societies. We need to align AI technology with human values on multiple fronts—from data privacy protection and cross-domain model collaboration to the seamless integration of vertical domain models with general-purpose large language models. Application fields such as healthcare and finance require new AI-based solutions to drive their innovations, while new challenges need to be addressed, such as data scarcity, the prevalence of data silos, and uneven distribution of computing resources, to name a few. These issues have emerged as core imperatives for the sustainable advancement of AI.

In response to these challenges, the PolyU Academy for Artificial Intelligence (PAAI) aims to play a leadership role in the global AI revolution. By forging deep integration between academic research and industrial practice, PAAI will focus on cutting-edge technologies such as generative AI and Federated Learning, both in theoretical and application fields. We also aim to champion the "AI + X" principle, in fostering Trustworthy and Sustainable AI development in various application fields.
