Medical and insurance

Information of optional Group Medical and/or Public Liability Insurance Scheme(s) for non-local students in 2023/24 academic year (i.e. 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024) will be sent to PolyU non-local students by email in of the middle/end of August /early September 2023.
In fact, there are many similar insurance products available in the private market. You may check with local banks for the information.

Legal Employment (NOL /IANG)

Non-local students are NOT allowed to take up employment, whether paid or unpaid, or establish to join in any business in Hong Kong, without the permission of the Director of Immigration.
With No Objection Letter issued by the Immigration Department and a valid student visa, you are allowed to take up employment with conditions.

Yes, you may apply to stay/return and work in Hong Kong under the Immigration Arrangement for Non-local Graduates (IANG).

Transcript of Studies, Testimonial or Award Parchment show your attainment of academic qualification.

When you are applying for IANG, you may need to apply for certification of studies, e.g. Transcript of Studies or Testimonial.

Octopus Card

Octopus is a contactless payment tool which is easy to use and accepted all over Hong Kong. You can use it for public transport, shopping and more.
Eligible full-time day-course students studying in a recognised institution in Hong Kong can enjoy concessionary fares for most public transports.
